Your Perfect Match For Complete Mobility

In the United States alone, a little over 6.8 million Americans use mobility devices to assist them with everyday activities. Around 6.1 million people use mobility devices such as canes, crutches, and walkers. The walker is currently used by 1.8 million people on a daily basis!

At HealthNorth, our purpose is to enable our clients to remain independent and in their homes through a combination of medical services, equipment, and supplies. Our Mission is to assist our clients in maintaining a dignified presence within their community.

As summer quickly approaches, a medical walker, cane, or wheelchair can be a great way to enjoy life in a manner that’s both secure, independent and essential for a healthy lifestyle! Whether you are looking to regain your love for the great outdoors or want to become a social butterfly once again, we have the perfect resources for you!

A cane might be the perfect way to maximize your ability to enjoy the warmer weather! To obtain maximum support from a cane it must be a proper fit and used correctly. Here are 5 Tips on how to size and use a cane:

1. Consider the functionality of the cane-not only its appearance.

2. In order to select from various styles of canes, consider the stability each offers.

3. It is important to choose a cane that is lightweight.

4. In order to select the proper length for a cane, make sure to stand up straight with your shoes on and your arms at your sides. The top of the cane should reach the crease on the underside of your wrist. If the cane fits properly, your elbow will be flexed 15-20 degrees when you hold the cane while standing.

5. It is important to make sure that you have a good grip of the cane and that your fingers and thumb do not overlap.

Take advantage of the great weather this spring and summer by letting us help you find your perfect match for complete mobility!
